Digital Video Broadcasting Project is an industry organization that develops technologies for the digital TV.
The three most widely used DVB's transmission protocols are DVB-C, DVB-S and DVB-T. All of these digital platforms are widely used, although mostly in Europe.
DVB developes not just transmission protocols, but also interactive standards for digital TV set-top boxes, etc. Various other DVB's protocols include MHP (multimedia home platform, also dubbed as DVB-MHP), DVB-M (standard for measuring DVB-S/T/C transmissions, etc), DVB-H (an "upgrade" of DVB-T standard that would allow using terrestial network to deliver DVB-T digital stream to mobile devices), etc.
_What is the DVB Project?
The Digital Video Broadcasting Project (DVB) is an industry-led consortium of over 270 broadcasters, manufacturers, network operators, software developers, regulatory bodies and others in over 35 countries committed to designing open technical standards for the global delivery of digital television and data services. Services using DVB standards are available on every continent with more than 170 million DVB receivers deployed.
_Where is DVB technology used?
The DVB Worldwide section draws on a wide range of sources including newswires, market reports, other industry bodies and information supplied directly to the Project Office and offers a country-by-country overview of where DVB technology has been deployed. You'll also find a table that will allow you to see at a glance where DVB-T has been launched, is on trial and has been adopted.
